Am off to Shetland. I'm hoping to see puffins as well as talk to people about wishes. Not sure what I will see, doesn't look as if it is going to be the sun - the weather forecast is rather wintery and I have had to find socks and scarves and hat (in case it is windy).

So far I have managed to get through the security systems at Terminal 5 and that is adventure enough for one morning. Strange how difficult it is to find signs about where to get your flight - everything seems to be designed for the shopping experience. Hey ho, that's what a consumer society is about I guess. Looking forward to the north, even if the weather is not great

Sunday 3 December - London


I am safe and warm at home and enjoying not going anywhere further than a bus ride for a while. When the light returns so might the desire to travel but for now I am hibernating.

Tuesday 17 October - Ely


Last day of travelling, off to Norwich and then homewards, back to London and trying to avoid fog and then rain.

Monday 16 October - Boston


Heading east across around the Wash and then to north Norfolk, Norwich and Cambridge. This may be over-ambitious but that's the plan.

Sunday 15 October - Doncaster


Am giving myself a gentle start to the day and then more towns before heading east towards the coast. Rotherham and Sheffield next and then not sure, will have to consult the map. Only a couple of days before I am home and the call of home now gets stronger.

Saturday 14 October - Harrogate


Heading towards the east coast and Hull. Hope to visit the Deep, their museum of the sea and then southwards. Only a few more days of travelling before I have to go back to London and get back into the swing of work once more.

Friday 13th October - Blackburn


No signal last night, now in Blackburn and a signal. Heading eastwards now, Burnley next, Bradford , Leeds and if all goes according to plan by the end of the day I will be back where I was yesterday afternoon.

Thursday 12 October - Thornley


More exploring the north east but first need to work out where I am. After the north east not sure where to go next. Lots of places I didn't go to on my way north and so may have to do a bit of zig zagging.
